Artist: Andrea Mejia
Exhibition: Word of the Year
Gallery: Dennis W. Dutzi Gallery
This piece is entitled “Infinite Cities.” It was the only piece in the gallery that was done by Andrea and it was done using the silkscreen process.
The character in the piece has a really cool look! When I had first seen it, the character resembled a hero of some type. The character actually comes from her very own comic book which amazed me. Comic books are cool and I hope she finishes it one day! I would love to read it.
Andrea is currently an undergraduate, majoring in illustration. This is her fifth year attending school at CSULB. She is trying to get her BFA and is thinking about graduate school later on after graduating this upcoming fall. During her free time, when she is not busy with her art, she enjoys watching movies. She works at a movie theater and is able to watch movies there for free!
The art show Andrea participated in was entitled “Word of the Year,” in which artists drew inspiration from important words/phrases during the 2016 year. Here are some of my other favorites.
